Terms and Conditions

These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of the Auto Spare World website and the purchase of products from Auto Spare World in South Africa.

These Terms and Conditions apply to the use of the Auto Spare World website and the purchase of products from Auto Spare World in South Africa. By using this website, requesting a quotation, placing an order, making payment, or purchasing any product, you agree to these terms.

If you do not agree, please do not use the website or purchase from Auto Spare World.

1) About Auto Spare World

Auto Spare World supplies imported engines, gearboxes, and selected auto spares to customers across South Africa. Our engines and gearboxes are sourced from England and are sold as used imported replacement units, unless clearly stated otherwise in writing.

Auto Spare World may sell to:

  • Private customers
  • Workshops and mechanics
  • Businesses and fleets
  • Resellers where applicable

2) Website Use

You may use this website to view products, request information, request quotations, contact Auto Spare World, and place orders where ecommerce functionality is available.

You may not:

  • Use the website for unlawful activity
  • Submit fraudulent orders or false information
  • Interfere with the website's operation or security
  • Copy or reuse website content or images without permission, including product descriptions, photos, and branding
  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to customer accounts, payments, or administration systems

We may restrict access or refuse service where misuse, fraud, or abuse is suspected.

3) Product Information and Condition of Goods

We make reasonable efforts to display accurate product descriptions, pricing, availability, and images. However, product images may be used for illustration or category display and may not always show the exact unit supplied, product listings may change without notice based on stock movement, and imported used engines and gearboxes may show signs of previous use, storage, transport, handling, and cosmetic wear.

Cosmetic wear does not automatically mean a product is defective.

Compatibility: It is the customer's responsibility to confirm compatibility before purchase. If a specific engine code, gearbox code, variant, sensor type, or accessory requirement exists, the customer must confirm those requirements with us in writing before payment.

4) Quotes, Orders, and Acceptance

4.1 Quotes

  • Quotes are provided based on available information and stock at the time.
  • A quoted price is valid only for the period stated on the quote, if any.
  • If details change, including vehicle variant, code, accessories needed, address, or delivery option, the quote may change.

4.2 Order Acceptance

An order is only confirmed once Auto Spare World has accepted the order and received payment, or payment approval, according to the agreed payment method.

We reserve the right to refuse or cancel an order if:

  • Stock is unavailable or cannot be supplied as expected
  • A listing or pricing error occurred
  • Payment is not received or does not clear
  • Fraud, chargeback risk, or suspicious activity is suspected
  • The order cannot be fulfilled for operational reasons

If an item becomes unavailable after payment, we may offer an alternative, replacement, store credit, or refund depending on the situation and customer preference.

5) Pricing

Prices are shown in South African Rand (ZAR) unless stated otherwise. Prices may change without prior notice.

Delivery costs, handling fees, palletising, packaging, or additional transport charges may apply and must be confirmed before payment if not already included in writing.

Where a clear error occurs, for example an obvious pricing mistake, we may correct it and contact you before processing the order.

6) Payment

Customers must pay using the payment methods made available by Auto Spare World.

Important payment notes:

  • Orders may not be released until payment reflects or clears, depending on method.
  • The customer must use the correct payment reference, such as invoice number or order number, to avoid delays.
  • If payment is reversed, disputed, or charged back, we may pause processing, delivery, warranty assessment, or refunds until the matter is resolved.

Auto Spare World will never request your banking password or OTP. If you receive a suspicious payment request, contact us directly to confirm.

7) Delivery, Shipping, and Collection

Auto Spare World offers delivery support across South Africa. Delivery timeframes are estimates, not guarantees, and may be affected by courier or freight schedules, public holidays, road conditions, payment clearance, stock preparation, address confirmation, and transport availability.

Customers must provide correct delivery details, ensure someone is available to receive the delivery where door delivery is used, and inspect goods on delivery before installation.

Collection may be available by prior arrangement. If a customer uses their own courier, the customer is responsible for that courier's collection process and risk from the time of collection.

For full shipping details, refer to our Shipping Policy.

8) Warranty

Qualifying engines and gearboxes are supplied with a three month warranty, unless stated otherwise in writing.

8.1 What the warranty generally covers

The warranty is intended to cover the main mechanical unit against qualifying faults identified within the warranty period, subject to the conditions below.

8.2 Warranty conditions

Warranty coverage is subject to correct installation by a competent mechanic or workshop, correct servicing and preparation including required fluids, filters, belts, seals, and related service items, and proper use of the vehicle and product.

8.3 What the warranty does not cover

The warranty does not cover damage or failure caused by incorrect installation or incorrect fitment, overheating, blocked cooling systems, coolant loss, continued driving after overheating, lack of oil, incorrect oil, oil starvation, lubrication failure, electrical faults, incorrect wiring, ECU issues, tuning, programming errors, misuse, racing, harsh driving, modifications, water ingress, flood damage, contamination, failure to replace service parts, or failure to follow workshop best practices.

Accessories attached to engines or gearboxes, for example sensors, manifolds, turbos, starters, alternators, pumps, or wiring looms, may be supplied for convenience and may not form part of the warranty unless confirmed in writing.

Warranty remedies may include repair, replacement, or refund, depending on the circumstances and availability. Labour, towing, and consequential costs are not covered unless required by law and agreed in writing.

9) Returns and Refunds

Returns and refunds are handled according to our Refund Policy.

Key rules:

  • Customers must contact Auto Spare World before returning any product.
  • Products returned without approval may be refused, delayed, or sent back at the customer's cost.
  • Units returned must be in the condition agreed under the Refund Policy and may be subject to inspection.

10) Inspection on Delivery and Reporting Issues

Customers must inspect shipments as soon as reasonably possible after receipt.

If there is visible transport damage, missing packaging, or any delivery issue, customers should take photos immediately, keep packaging, notify Auto Spare World as soon as possible, and not install the product until the issue has been logged and guidance has been provided.

Installation or use may affect how a claim is assessed.

11) Customer Responsibilities

The customer must provide accurate information, including where relevant make, model, year, engine size, engine code, gearbox code, transmission type, fuel type, VIN, supporting photos where requested, and accurate delivery address and contact details.

The customer is responsible for ensuring that installation is handled properly and safely by a competent workshop and that related service items and checks are completed.

12) Limitation of Liability

To the extent permitted by South African law, Auto Spare World will not be liable for indirect losses or consequential damages, including loss of income or profits, loss of business, workshop delays or downtime, vehicle downtime, towing, travel, accommodation, or inconvenience costs.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights that cannot be excluded under applicable South African consumer law.

13) Policy Updates

Auto Spare World may update these Terms and Conditions from time to time. The latest version displayed on our website will apply from the date it is posted.
