Refund Policy

Auto Spare World aims to supply quality imported engines, gearboxes, and auto spares with clear product information and fair customer support.

Auto Spare World aims to supply quality imported engines, gearboxes, and auto spares with clear product information and fair customer support. Because our products are imported used mechanical parts, returns and refunds are handled according to the condition of the product, the reason for the return, warranty terms, and applicable South African consumer standards.

Please read this policy before placing an order.

1) General Refund Approach

Refunds are not automatic for all purchases. Each request is reviewed based on:

  • What was supplied versus what was agreed in writing, including invoice, quote, or messages
  • The customer's order details and vehicle information provided
  • Whether the product was installed or not installed
  • The condition of the unit on return
  • Evidence provided, including photos, code plates, or workshop report where relevant
  • Courier documents and delivery notes where damage is claimed

If Auto Spare World supplied the wrong product due to our error, or if the product is proven to be materially different from what was sold, we will work with the customer to provide a reasonable solution. Depending on the situation, this may include replacement, exchange, repair support, or a refund.

2) Timeframes (Days)

A) Return Requests (7 days)

A return or refund request must be logged with Auto Spare World within 7 days of delivery or collection for the following situations:

  • The wrong item was supplied due to our error
  • The item received is materially different from what was agreed
  • The item arrived damaged in transport, supported by photos and delivery receipt notes

Important: Do not install the unit if there is a delivery issue or mismatch. Installation can affect eligibility.

B) Refund Processing (7 to 10 business days)

If a refund is approved, Auto Spare World will process the refund within 7 to 10 business days after:

  • The return is approved in writing
  • The returned product, if applicable, has been received and inspected
  • The refund amount has been confirmed

Bank processing times may vary and are outside our control.

C) Warranty Related Remedies (3 months)

Qualifying engines and gearboxes are supplied with a three month warranty. Terms apply. If a qualifying warranty fault is confirmed within the warranty period, the remedy may include repair, replacement, or refund depending on the circumstances and inspection outcome.

3) Customer Responsibility Before Purchase

Customers must provide accurate vehicle details before ordering. This may include:

  • Make, model, and year
  • Engine size and engine code
  • Gearbox type and gearbox code
  • Fuel type and transmission type
  • VIN, recommended
  • Photos where needed

If a customer orders the wrong product because incorrect or incomplete information was supplied, Auto Spare World may not be able to approve a refund. In some cases, an exchange may be considered, but additional transport, handling, inspection costs, or price differences may apply.

4) Used Imported Engines and Gearboxes (Condition and Included Parts)

Engines and gearboxes sold by Auto Spare World are imported used replacement units unless clearly stated otherwise. These products may show signs of previous use, storage marks, handling marks, or minor cosmetic wear.

A used imported engine or gearbox is sold as a replacement mechanical unit, not as a brand new product. Customers must confirm what is included before purchase.

External parts and accessories may be supplied for convenience and may not form part of the sale or warranty unless confirmed in writing, including but not limited to:

  • Sensors and wiring
  • Turbo units
  • Alternators and starters
  • Pumps
  • Manifolds
  • Clutches, mounts, brackets, and ancillaries

5) Three Month Warranty (Summary)

Qualifying engines and gearboxes are supplied with a three month warranty. The warranty applies to the main mechanical unit, subject to correct installation, correct servicing, proper use, and compliance with warranty requirements communicated by Auto Spare World.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by:

  • Incorrect installation or incorrect fitment
  • Overheating or cooling system issues
  • Lack of oil, incorrect oil, contaminated oil, or lubrication failure
  • Failure to replace service parts
  • Misuse, racing, modification, or commercial abuse beyond normal use
  • Water damage
  • Electrical faults
  • Continued use after a fault becomes visible
  • Opening, stripping, modifying, or repairing the unit without written approval

6) Return Conditions (What We Require)

To request a return or refund:

  • Contact Auto Spare World first. Do not return goods without approval.
  • Provide proof of purchase and the reason for the return request.
  • Provide supporting evidence, including photos, videos, code plates, or workshop report where applicable.
  • Do not dismantle, modify, or attempt repairs without written approval.

Returned products may be inspected before a refund decision is made.

7) Inspection Process

Returned engines, gearboxes, or spares may need to be inspected to assess whether the issue:

  • Existed before sale
  • Occurred during transport
  • Resulted from installation, tuning, overheating, electrical faults, or misuse
  • Is related to an accessory not included in writing

If the product is found to be in working order, wrongly ordered, damaged by installation, damaged after delivery, or returned incomplete, the customer may be responsible for return transport, inspection costs, re delivery costs, or handling fees.

8) Non Refundable Situations

Refunds may be declined where:

  • The customer ordered the wrong part using incorrect information
  • The product was installed incorrectly
  • The unit was used after a known fault appeared
  • The product was modified, stripped, or tampered with
  • Damage was caused by overheating, lack of lubrication, or misuse
  • The product was returned incomplete or with missing parts
  • The issue relates to an accessory not covered or not included in writing
  • The customer cannot provide reasonable proof of the problem
  • The request falls outside the relevant return or warranty period

9) Approved Refunds and Fees

If a refund is approved, it will be processed within 7 to 10 business days as explained in section 2B. Shipping, courier, palletising, handling, and collection fees may not be refundable unless the return is due to an error by Auto Spare World or as required by applicable law.

Refunds are generally paid back to the original payer or via EFT to the payer's bank account.

10) Contact About Refunds

Customers should contact Auto Spare World before returning any product. Products returned without approval may be refused or delayed.
